There are four roles in Online Surveys:

  • Primary Contact
  • Administrator
  • Billing contact
  • Editor

Primary Contacts, Administrators and Billing Contacts

Each of the above roles share these privileges in the application:

  • Can view all account surveys in their Dashboard.
  • Can access Build, Distribute and Permissions areas of all surveys in the account.
  • Can access the Account area to:
    • Add and remove users.
    • Assign roles.
    • View account statistics.
    • (Future) Manage the account’s subscription.

Although the privileges in the application are common for these three roles, Primary Contacts and Billing Contacts have particular responsibilities:

Primary Contact: this should be the main point of contact for the account. This user will be the first to be informed about any important information that Jisc needs to convey to the account owner. Should an individual from your organisation contact Jisc for queries relating to your account, then Jisc will provide the contact details of the Primary Contact.

Billing Contact: will be contacted about the renewal of subscriptions, along with the Primary Contact.

Controls for privileged users

  • None of these roles can access the Analyse area of a survey unless specifically granted permission to do so by a user who has permission to that survey.
  • These roles can grant permissions to any survey, but they cannot grant permissions for themselves to access the Analyse area of a survey.
  • The History tab in the Permissions area of a survey lists all occasions that survey permissions have changed.

Editors

Editors are general end users within your account who are able to create and share surveys. They cannot:

  • View or access surveys for which they have no explicit permission.
  • Access the Account area to manage other users or subscriptions.
