Adding a follow-up / “other” question
You can use Logic to create a dependent follow-up question. This will allow you to provide a space for a free text response for your respondents to complete if you set an “Other” option in a Choice question.
1. Add an "Other" answer option
Add an answer option for “Other” to your Choice question.
- Click Add option.
- Type “Other” in the new answer option input box.
- Click Finish editing.
2. Add a free text question below
Add a new free text question below your Choice question.
- Click Add new item below your Choice question.
- Choose Single line or Multi line question depending on the length of the response you expect for your follow-up.
3. Add your question text
Phrase your free text question so that it is clear that it relates to the question above.
- Type your question text in the Question text input box.
4. Add logic to your free text question
Add logic to your free text question, so that it will only appear for the respondent if the Other answer option is selected in the Choice question.
- Click the Question properties cog for your follow up question.
- In Question properties, expand the Logic accordion.
- Select the Choice question above from the list of questions.
- Select equals.
- Select your “Other” answer option from the list of answer options.
- Click Finished.
What you respondents will see
Respondents will only see your follow-up free text question if they select “Other” from the list of answer options.
