Compliance status

This website application is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

The Online Surveys application, including the survey builder, preview and survey respondent elements (app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk)

Success Criterion 2.1.1: Keyboard
  • Calendar dialogs: the calendar interface for date & time questions and distribution settings cannot be dismissed using a keyboard. This means users who rely on keyboard navigation cannot close the dialog without a pointer device. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1.
  • Colour picker dialogs: the colour picker interface for survey theme colours and text colours cannot be dismissed using a keyboard. This means users who rely on keyboard navigation cannot close the dialog without a pointer device. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1.

Content that’s not within scope of the accessibility regulations

Third party content

Customers of the Online Surveys service produce surveys that can include images, custom text, and downloads. These are not owned by Jisc, and each customer is responsible for ensuring they meet accessibility standards where necessary.

Disproportionate burden

We are not claiming that it is a disproportionate burden to fix the issues on this website application.

Each customer is responsible for ensuring the accessibility standards are met for surveys created by them.

How we tested this website

We test the accessibility of our site using a combination of automated tools and manual checks. This includes:

  • UsableNet AQA to review key user journeys and identify potential accessibility issues.
  • axe DevTools to scan individual pages for common technical issues such as contrast errors or missing labels.
  • Manual keyboard testing to ensure all content and functionality can be accessed without a mouse.
  • Screen reader testing using Operating System-native readers to check that content is announced correctly and navigation is logical for users relying on assistive technology.

What we're doing to improve accessibility

Our roadmap includes the commission of work to improve accessibility on this website to address the non-compliance with accessibility regulations as outlined above.
