- Provide participating organisations access to our effective survey distribution features
- Simplify the process of aggregating data: we construct your benchmarking groups

- Host your surveys within Jisc’s secure, trusted Online Surveys platform.
What's included?
- Survey build
- Group management
- Benchmarking data
- Data exports
- Training
We configure your master survey with locked core questions and flexible local-question sections.
You bring the questions, we do the rest. Note, we don’t offer question writing as part of the service.
We construct and manage your benchmarking groups and sub-groups across participating organisations.
Each organisation can view their data alongside group and sub-group comparisons.
This can be delivered at the close of a survey, or live while the survey is running.
Raw dataset exports and response-rate updates keep you informed throughout the project.
Where required, onboarding and training for survey officers at participating organisations for sector-wide surveys.
Proven at scale
Online Surveys benchmarking is used in major education sector surveys but this service is now available to any sector.
We have enabled a number of successful national surveys, including:
- Advance HE’s Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES): a key tool for the UK higher education sector to understand the current experiences of postgraduate taught students
- Advance HE’s Postgraduate Research Exeperience Survey (PRES): provides robust, benchmark data from a large number of institutions across the UK and beyond to drive enhancement of the postgraduate research experience
- Vitae’s CEDARS: The Culture, Employment and Development of Academic Researchers Survey (CEDARS) is at the forefront of understanding and improving the academic research environment
- Jisc, Advance HE and University of East London’s Pre-Arrival Questionnaire: Office for Students-funded national project being delivered by the University of East London, AdvanceHE and Jisc, looking at the primary concerns of students, their experience of learning styles and technology use, and their study engagement challenges
- Jisc’s digital experience surveys: developed in partnership with higher education institutions, the international digital experience surveys highlights the digital challenges affecting global learning from a UK perspective.

Interested in running a sector-wide survey?
If you are interested in using our benchmarking services or how we can help with your large-scale or sector surveys, email us at help@jisc.ac.uk.
In addition to benchmarking, we can support larger scale surveys that need to exceed the usual response limits provided by regular subscriptions. These services are provided as part of our wider Jisc data consultancy offering.
How does the consultancy process work:
- One of our consultants will discuss your requirements, purpose, and goals
- We’ll provide a proposal to deliver your solution and set some milestones
- Once you’re happy, we’ll sign a contract together and begin the consultancy project.
