This article explains how to create a survey.

Video summary

Watch this short video to see how to create a survey in Online Surveys.

1. Create a survey

There are three ways to create a new draft survey. Each method can be found on your Dashboard.

To create a new survey, click the Create survey button on your Dashboard. Choose From scratch from the menu.

To create a new draft of an existing survey, click the three dots for the survey on your Dashboard to open the Survey actions menu. Click Duplicate.

You can import a survey that you have previously exported. Click Create survey on your Dashboard and choose From import.

2. Add questions and pages

Use the Build area of your survey to add your content.

To add a question or a note (our text editor), click Add item on the survey page.

If you have a long survey, consider breaking it up over multiple pages. This will make the survey easier for the respondent to complete.

3. Add logic

After you’ve set up your pages and questions, it’s the best time to set up logic

You can choose to only show particular questions or pages based on the answers your respondent gives. This will help personalise the experience for the respondent and ensure you get the best data.

4. Customise your survey

After your questions and logic are set up it’s time to review your survey’s settings.

Go to your survey’s Settings page to fine-tune the experience for your respondents. You can switch on Finish later, prevent respondents from returning to a previous page or allow your respondents to download their answers.

Go to your survey’s Display settings page to add a logo, select a theme colour or change the display language.

5. Preview your survey

Make sure you preview your survey to test your logic and settings.

6. Distribute your survey

Once you’re happy that your survey is ready, review your Distribution settings and launch your survey.
